The National Archives Key Application Support

Between 2007 and 2012 SCISYS provided support and development services for three National Archives key applications providing functionality for both The National Archive (TNA) staff and Public users. SCISYS was selected on the basis of value for money in a Buying Solutions (now GPS) procurement . The care we took to understand the business need of the National Archives was also cited as a key SCISYS differentiator.

A successful transition period was undertaken from the longstanding incumbent supplier and during the knowledge acquisition and transition phases, the applications were installed and tested in a new support environment allowing for stable, base-lined applications to be put under configuration control before the commencement of formal support.

The day to day services provided for TNA included:

  • Incident and Problem resolution
  • Configuration control of source code and documentation
  • Pro-active support initiatives
  • Support of application interfaces
  • Application enhancements
  • User advice and guidance
  • Business analysis

The support was provided by a team of dedicated support professionals that have both the relevant technical skills and an extensive knowledge of the business domain, lead by a dedicated Service Delivery Manager who was responsible for ensuring the required services were delivered to the customer’s satisfaction and meet, or exceed, any service level and reporting agreements.

SCISYS pro-actively worked with TNA to drive value from these systems, including a major technology refresh to .Net technologies.
